Top 3 Landing Spots for Giannis

Where Does Giannis’ Future Lie?

With one year left on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, there is much speculation following their playoff elimination. With Giannis as the league reigning MVP, the Bucks should be title contenders every year. However, after two consecutive playoff losses as the one seed, Giannis’ fit with the Bucks may be in question.

We have to assume that Giannis is chasing a championship, and Milwaukee does not seem to be the place that is going to happen. So, we’re going to outline the top 3 places that Giannis could possibly end up after his contract expires.

1. Golden State Warriors

After the departure of Kevin Durant, the Golden State Warriors have the cap space to sign Giannis. Imagining that Giannis wants a ring, he will likely also take a pay cut. Antetokounmpo is a long-lengthy forward that can run the floor for the Warriors. With the possible addition of LaMelo Ball or James Wiseman in the 2020 NBA Draft, Giannis can complement either of those as the Warriors’ lengthy forward.

Imaginary Starting Lineup:

PG: Stephen Curry

SG: Klay Thompson

SF: Giannis Antetokounmpo

PF: Draymond Green

C: James Wiseman

2. Portland Trailblazers

The Portland Trailblazers are always playoff contenders with Dame Lillard. However, Dame cannot do it all by himself. Last year, they managed to get to the Western Conference Finals, where they fell short to the Golden State Warriors. This year, they ran into the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round, which the Trailblazers just seemed to be exhausted and banged up going into. If they want to be in title contention, expect Giannis to head to the Pacific Northwest.

Imaginary Starting Lineup:

PG: Damian Lillard

SG: CJ McCollum

SF: Giannis Antetokounmpo

PF: Hassan Whiteside

C: Jusuf Nurkic

3. Miami Heat

We’ve seen this story before. As the saying goes, “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.”With the addition of a long big man, who can run the floor and speed up the tempo of Miami’s offense. Especially with Jimmy’s defense, the Defensive Player of the Year in Antetokounmpo could make this Miami Heat team complete and dangerous.

Imaginary Starting Lineup:

PG: Goran Dragic

SG: Tyler Herro

SF: Jimmy Butler

PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo

C: Bam Adebayo
